I believe that Jesus said that the hardest thing for Him to do was to put up with Environment Man giving His follwers a bad name. He also said something to the effect of, "Forgiveness is all well and good, but could somebody please kick Eman in the balls? In my name?"

Love your enemies and to always remember thos who live by the sword die by the sword.

although hypocrisy is a close second. He talks of the two guys who go to the temple and one looks over and the other while saying to god how much better he is than the other guy. But the other guy just says how low he is and full of sin but wants to be better. Jesus says it's the second guy who's saved.

Isn't the old saying "an enemy is just a friend you haven't made yet"?

Soooo...the self-absorbed guy's saved? I mean, obviously the second guy is focused on himself and what he believes is ideal. First guy just never internalized all the guidelines of what's "right" or "good" and still needs a measuring stick...

Yes, that could be hard. Though the lesson in it was to remember the other person is only hurting themselves and to not forgive hurts us. All the scars on my back healed up nicely. Yet, there is only one person who apologized to me that I couldn't forgive because it was when they did so I realized I had a cut...their timing was off as it only added to the other cuts that were bleeding at the time. I could forgive that one person now. The others were sealed up out of my life.

Since Jesus is said to have succeeded in that both with Roman soldiers and- after crucifiction, with Saul turned Paul on the road to Demascus I'm sure he believed it to be the idea.

What Jesus meant is that the guy who fixates on teh other's since can only see the speck in the other's eye while completely missing the 2-by-4 [beam of wood] in his own, meaning he's sinning too, but uses the other guy's sin as a distraction and to say he's better.

Meanwhile the guy focusing on his own sins is more likely to see them for what they are, without playing moral relativism, and be quicker to seek forgiveness.

It is VERY hard to turn the other cheek. I don't do that, because I don't like to get smacked twice. Not even once, for that matter.

Forgiveness...is hard too. I guess I'm not a very forgiving person either, because once someone hurts me, I never give them another chance to hurt me again.

I fogive, but never forget, so mostly, I just move on and shut that door, lock it and throw away the key.

Sounds much like a certain poster here, always fixating on the "faults" (as perceived by him) of others, to make himself feel superior/better about his own shortcomings.
