The brain is like an empty forest. Just soil, at first. Early seeds grow strong roots, and if tended to properly, will grow big, strong trees. Resources are limited, as they are in a forest, so seeds planted later on will not necessarily grow as big or strong.

The bigger and stronger the tree, the more difficult it is to chop down.

The pleasures and pains and fears are merely communication devices. They tell you what is happening in your brain, so you can control your own forest. Some trees are good for your brain, some are not. If you grow lots of bad trees, you will be screwed up and you will cause much misery for others.

I like the analogy here but I disagree with the first premise. First, allow me to state the source where part of my thoughts stem:

Most ideas about what for someone is good or bad... are pure bullshit... you know, completely incorrect. People have this deranged idea there is something wrong with children cursing and watching porn.

When I was 5, every recess period, I would crawl under this stone tortoise in the playground, and practice cursing all period long.

I started watching XXX porn when I was 9.

Look at me... the cursing and porn had no negative effects. In fact, for my age-group, I probably have one of the healthiest brains on the planet today (possibly pound-for-pound).

The brain has been a mystery. People have had theories. Most of their theories have been retardedly wrong. Unraveling of brain mysteries proves which are correct.
