Biggest hurdle: all cultures are fiction and people have a REALLY
hard time forming thoughts out side of the boundaries taught by culture.

Hinudism allows rich people to sleep well at night and not be bothered by suffering...
and, yes, they burned wives - alive - when the husband died.
That's the purpose of science as well. Hinduism views everything we perceive as an illusion. The burning of live wives and separate castes are viewed as illusions as well and have more to do with Indian culture than anything.

These things predate Hinduism. They were incorporated by people who embraced Hinduism the same way the Catholic Church embraced local deities from older belief systems and made them saints in order to expand the flock.

But it feels so real.
Basically it's a ruling class deciding what happens to everyone else. In this case men deciding the wives have to burn. They didn't burn the men when their wives died.
Guess who made up those stipulations.

Well of course men came up with the concept. But that is non sequitur to my point.

I, respectfully, argue that,
the purpose of science is TO ASK QUESTIONS,
to have answers reviewed and to ask more questions.

The purpose of hinduism is to continue to believe in answers and NOT ask questions
