These things predate Hinduism. They were incorporated by people who embraced Hinduism the same way the Catholic Church embraced local deities from older belief systems and made them saints in order to expand the flock.

the purpose of science is TO ASK QUESTIONS,
to have answers reviewed and to ask more questions.

The purpose of hinduism is to continue to believe in answers and NOT ask questions
