Isn't Emans "Devil" an Old God too? The Horned One. Lord of the Trees. The God who dies and is reborn at the Solstices. So the Great Mother can live to sustain her Children.

Oh Goddess no. I've never viewed the Horned One as Satan. He who dies and is reborn with the solstice allows for the changes necessary in the Wheel. He is so much greater than some wimpy dude all dressed in red carrying a stupid pitchfork, lol. (My bad, I couldn't resist at least one bad joke.)

Have you read Margaret Alice Murray's theories on him?

Gimme that old time religion (paganism)...

Seeing that paganism predates Christianity by quite a bit Murray's take on it was that all these historical horned god figures were possibly related and worshipped by a pan-European witchcraft religion. Only when Christianization occurred was the Horned God "image" associated with Satan. Figures, huh? Cheap shot by them, really. Then again, the Christian church clergy (especially the Catholics) were big on playing on both our sabbats and our beliefs in order to attempt to build their fold, nay?

Think about the sabbats, and then think about "Christian" holidays:

First (and yes EMan ours predated yours) there was:

Yule...and gee whiz, how convenient that Jesus was born around same date! Viola! Christmas! Puleaseeee.

Next we have ...

Ostara...they copped it for Easter. (Another convenient time slot to suck in pagans utilizing their feast days of celebration.)

And of course Samhain...which many good little Christian children celebrate as Halloween.

It makes a good lil pagan want to sue their church, lmao.
