You can blame her husband for knowing fully well that she was having extremely serious mental problems and leaving her alone at home with a bunch of kids. He KNEW better and did nothing to protect them or get her the help she needed.

I meant to put a question mark behind that sentence. My point was that it is perfectly fine for a father to leave his kids at home with a (even unstable appearing because sometimes women just seem that way) mother.
