True. And you will probably get your wish. Things have been much too calm, for a very long time, concerning Cataclysms on our Earth. Religion provides collective amnesia of these events, then they become shrouded in mystery and outright falsehood, when recorded, to lull people into a false security.

I meant the Asteroids being made of Ice, probably carrying with it some form of life, colliding with our Earth, creating atmospheric upheaval, producing Clouds causing Rain, over a long period of time.
I'm not so sure commets or asteroids would've brought organisms yet, but the water and certain simply organic compounds is always a possibility.

They were concentrated around India and thereabouts, in that region. And since according to their (scientists who investigated the event and myth of the biblical flood) findings, the Asteroid fell/slammed into the Indian Ocean, it caused immense Tsunamis, which caused extreme Floods, which killed half of Humanity that lived at that time, about 4800 years ago.

There was more than one devestating Flood on Planet Earth.

As I said above...it is highly likely, that you will get your wish. It's time for a change and a somewhat rude awakening from a fantasy existance People have created for themselves, with all kids of Myths and Legends, including Religions and Gods.
To be honest I weep for the loss of European pagan mythologies and religions. Who knows what Roman christians obliterated when stomping around.

It's all still there. People (Pagans) just went deep underground, and preserved their Mythologies and Gods/Goddesses.

The real harm was done during "The Burning Times".

Not all there. A lot was lost to history, the Romans were that thorough. The first emperior of China in 272 BC did something similar only he was more thorough. To this day there are whole cultures predating China that archeologists know nothing about because everything of who they were was totally destroyed; their writings, architecture, religions, everything. In some cases the people themselves were wiped out to the last person.

I find this appropriate:

OZYMANDIAS
By P. B. Shelley

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Ozymandias...? Hmm, interesting. So you're sayin' Ozy is Vishnu, The Destroyer of Worlds?

Heretical Note: I'm serious about getting a Christian's, Jew's or Muslim's viewpoint on this thread.

Dude, you're confusing Vishnu with Shiva.

Well... not really. See, Vishnu destroys the whole universe by simply waking up from his dream. And Brachma destroys a whole world by closing his eyes. Shiva destroys in one hand, but simultaneously creates on the other hand [the statue of her even shows this].

Now you're confusing Shiva with his wife Kali. But, I do see your point. Right now, the Christians are scratching their heads and saying, "What the fudge?"

Point being: What does a Christian make of a meteorite hit in Jerusalem if it vaporizes holy sites and kills the "chosen people" alongside anyone else in proximity?

The Christian(s) would be very very happy about such an event. Orgasmic even.
