Man, I cannot believe I actually looked this up but I couldn't remember and the case name its Moore v. Regents of University of California and I won't bother giving the keycite cause it won't help you. However, if you look it up in google I bet something will come up its a very important case. I was right in the respect that there is NO uniform opinion on this and state are free to choose how they decide to this issue. There is no KNOWN supct decision since they were denied certiori (the ct denied them a hearing). I was wrong on one point. But it is technical and has to do with a concept called "conversion" and I don't think anyone wants me to give lecture. The thing to take away from this is if a doctor plans to use your cells in research or to whatever with them he is required to: 1. get informed EXPRESS consent from the patient 2. disclose ALL relevant information regarding processes etc 3. A physician must disclose personal interests unrelated to the patient's health, whether research or economic, that may affect the physician's professional judgment; and a physician's failure to disclose such interests may give rise to a cause of action for performing medical procedures without informed consent or breach of fiduciary duty (its like a relationship in businesses). 4. A person can GIVE his body to science or donate parts--under state law The problem is that I can't really go into this without busting out all the terms and shit so I think I'll just stop here.

It'll be the same with biotech. The benefits of biotech are tremendous. It is the only hope for world agriculture if we are to feed 10+ billion humans. There may be some risks that we don't see yet, but when oil becomes too expensive to use for food production, we simply don't have viable alternatives.

Eat beans. I sure thought of a viable alternative this afternoon. Thing is how to make it a reliable source of energy. Whether itīs sound-proof or not, I donīt care. I am sure we all can hold methane and use it the proper way. Just a matter of waiting a few years.

I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge the real dangers - indeed, insertion of genes from different organisms may trigger allergic reactions, and those may be serious. This is a real problem, hence i believe GM food, like everything else, should be properly labeled... There are some other minor environmental problems (like in that British farm study, where birds were impacted because weeds that they ate were wiped out by pesticides), so those should be considered as well. But attack of the killer tomatoes is science fiction lol, might as well be afraid of leprechauns.
