Right, we don't need roads, and we don't need to give poor kids an education and if we leave business alone they will clean up the air, the water, and voluntarily take care of all their toxic waste. Let's just get rid of government and let it be every man for himself. Works for me, I'm stronger, smarter, better trained, and better armed. Is that what you want?

Besides, I'm not saying the government should give all your money to the poor. It is Jesus who is saying you should. You personally, not the government.

My whole point behind this thread was to shed light on the fact that if Christians want to claim this nation as a Christian nation, they're going to have to set up a Socialized Economy. The very core tenets of Christianity is to care for the poor and sick. This is not what I see from the conservative Christians.
One thing I notice an awful lot is that conservatives seem to chose their moral values according to their politics while the progressives seem to base their politics on their morals. Very often the previous are the ones who claim to be such great Christians while the latter (who tend to do more "Christian" like acts) tend to shy away from tooting their own horn by saying "I'm a Christian. Look at what I do."

Let's highlight the acts of Conservatives and the "compassionate" christianity, and compare them to the Progressives who have set up many socialized programs (most of which the conservative Christian's try desparetly to undo) and yet don't go around saying "I'm a Christian...lok at me, look at me!!!"

And while I see Cookies point, MY point is that it's Conservatives who proclaim loudly that this is a Christian Nation but rebuke the very words of Jesus regarding being a Christian. They want to make the claim but won't make the commitment.

The title was simply a sardonic remark I made to some nutjob I was debating the other night. I caught him in a logica loop and he had to admit that if you are a REAL Christian, you have to chose a Socialized economy in order to claim to be a Christian Nation.

He would throw the Money Changers out of the temples.

That is why it is so ALARMING that Barack Obama proposes to funnel MORE money to churches, who are CLEARLY already not doing the job for which they claim tax exempt status.

Makes sense to me. If you want it a Christian Nation, it must give everything to the poor. Otherwise be content being a Christian in a non-Christian nation. As JC said, give to Rome what belongs to Rome and give to God what belongs to God. Jesus was a socialist.

Jesus Christ was absolutely, unequivocally and LIBERALLY a socialist.

If Jesus Christ would err, it would be on the side of generosity.

That said, "one nation under God" does NOT extrapolate to "a Christian nation."

Belief in Christ as the Son of God is indigenous to particular religions. Declaring America to be a Christian nation would formally elevate some religions over others, which is patently unconstitutional.
