It was a sacrifice. A capital punishment sacrifice. Jesus' perfect life for the perfect lives of Adam and Eve [and the loss of that perfect through original sin].

God approved of capital punishment for his son as a ransom sacrifice for original sin. Justice was served. God demands justice.
