China: Chinese citizens enjoy freedom of religion in accordance with the law

I'm going to go ahead and give Bush some props for this one. This should read: Chinese citizens enjoy having their asses imprisoned for not believing what the government tells the to believe. "Believe as we tell you or suffer the consequences"

Some people (who shall remain nameless) just love China and their total oppression of freedoms and rights.

ANGKOK, Thailand (CNN) -- China said it is committed to its citizens' "basic rights and freedoms" Thursday and criticized President Bush for meddling in what Beijing says are its internal affairs.

"We firmly oppose any statements or deeds which use human rights, religion and other issues to interfere with the internal affairs of other countries," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang, responding to Bush, who has cited "deep concerns" with China's record on human rights.

The spokesman added that China embraces the concept of putting people's interests first and is devoted to "maintaining and promoting basic rights and freedom of its citizens."

"Chinese citizens enjoy freedom of religion in accordance with the law. These facts are well known. Regarding the Sino-U.S. differences on issues including human rights and religion, we have always insisted on dialogue and communication based on mutual equality and mutual respect, in order to enhance understanding, reduce differences and to expand consensus," he said.Watch pro-Tibet protests »

In a speech on Asian policy delivered in Bangkok, Thailand, on the eve of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Bush chided China over its record of religious freedom and human rights.

"America stands in firm opposition to China's detention of political dissidents, human rights advocates and religious activists," Bush said.

Vapors.

First let me get over the fact that you actually came to the Religion Forum.

Then let me get over the fact that you gave Bush 'a' prop.

Give me a few moments on this one.

[okay now to appease PC and not use another post]

But note that Bush is not going to complain on the Chinese Mainland.

"America stands in firm opposition to China's detention of political dissidents, human rights advocates and religious activists," Bush said.

Hu Jintao should ask him about the million blacks America has locked up.

Hu should also ask him about the segregation of American neighborhoods.

Hu should ask him about the disparate economic opportunities for black Americans.

America cannot lecture to China about human rights.

Maybe religious rights. Yes.

But even there China allows most anything that does not threaten the government.

You compare Chinese human rights violations to America? I know you have been corrupted by communism but I had no idea it also made you blind.

Are you saying the State that you would entrust with the application of the death penalty is not a State that you would entrust with deciding whether or not people should be incarcerated?

Mao abused the Chinese nation, particularly the peasants, but he also leveraged their might to make China a military superpower.

The Chinese are the most loving people on the face of the Earth.

And it has led to their abuse.

But they only tortured their own.

Who has America tortured and why?

Please. President Hu should tell Bush to kiss his Chinese ass if he brings up human rights.

You are one sly disciple of the Father of the Lie.

Once the Chinese become Christians, there is no telling what they can achieve.

I have no choice but the trust our extremely flawed state with the judicial system.

That does not mean I will ignore its tyranny.

But it reflects our society.

It might seem perfect to you, but it is highly flawed to me.

I could easily leave here and live the rest of my life in China.

At least I would get appropriate respect there.

It sure aint available in this [biased] country.

Unless you are willing to completely deny who you are like Barack Obama.

Is that why you support his candidacy?

Are they as free as us? No. Are they a WHOLE lot freer than they were a couple decades ago? Yes.
