Not just FF but allowing any type of applications to be installed opens them up to a variety of security risks. I really doubt they would leave themselves so vulnerable.

You'd be surprised too how many people in computer fields are not internet savvy.

There's a big difference between your company's programmer and even one of us (sometimes).

I'm finding this out now because I've moved from my near life long career as a carpenter/construction worker, supervisor or company owner to other things. Presently I'm working for a printing firm as a printer operator.

In the 16 weeks since I've been there I understand the printer's software and administration logs better then my supervisor who's been their 10+ years. When he needs to find something that's been been printed he asks me to do it now.

Forget it when it comes to surfing the web.

I and one of the software/desktop publishing gurus in the place were trying to find a location. He was still using the most rudimentary site for finding directions till I showed him GoogleMaps, and he was blown away.

He had missed a fight in a Bruins game (Hockey) the night before and I showed him how to find it on Utube, with just a few key words. He acted as if I'd just showed him the Arc of the Covenant.

I've been using FireFox since it was FireBird, because of its security. When was that?

Oh wait that's right I'm internet savvy.......Google please. April 14, 2003

The new name, Firebird, was met with mixed reactions, particularly as the Firebird database server already carried the name. In late April, following an apparent name change to Firebird browser for a few hours, the Mozilla Foundation issued an official statement which stated that the browser should be referred to as Mozilla Firebird (as opposed to just Firebird). Continuing pressure from the Firebird community forced another change, and on February 9, 2004 the project was renamed Mozilla Firefox (or Firefox for short).

Nothing like taking a tool and crippling it......
Like a hammer whose handle is cut....

Work in the same environment, just glad that we have some flexibility on installing things. Try to stay on the applications side, damn system administrators become slaves to the blinky lights.....

LMFAO!!!!!! When I arrived where I live now, I had to go back two full years of schooling to catch up with the local level of highschool courses. Damn, from what I see, it still is really bad over there. Is it that hard or expensive to keep up a decent level of teaching? How the hell can someone like that individual be a teacher? Damn, itīs disgusting. Sorry for my rusty english, Iīm not sure if I typed the right words, but being a proffesor I just canīt believe what level of ignorance that dude has.

If the kid was connected to the internet (which he apparently was) he could download and install Firefox in a couple of minutes. While it may not be the place for that the teacher not knowing what Firefox is shouldn't be teaching anything. Much less a class on computers.
