Yeah, and when you sit back and think about it..........man, that was awesome. From the birth of flight to man on the moon was something like 60 years. You'd think we'd have a colony on Mars by now at that rate. But the cold war kind or re-aligned our priorities, I think.

It WAS awesome, especially when you consider it happened back in the 60's. Before home computers, cell phones, fax machines, and CD's.

Back when they took spaceflight seriously- or... mostly seriously anyway.

LSD and grass fueled the leaps of creativity in that era. Now it is all bad. I remember back then when they considered their fathers and mothers backwards. This generation, the baby boomers give whole new meaning to "backwards".

This could be really cool!

Anybody know what time on January 30th?

Anybody ever read Lucifer's Hammer, by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, copyright 1977?

I knew I missed one of Niven's books, think I bought it before I went in the Corps, do not think I read it, but it is floating around somewhere, just went through my collections (without going into the second layer of books)...... Liked his Ringworld with Luis Wu and Teela... (the lucky girl)

If you like the authors, you'll definitely like this one. I've read it twice now. I lost my original copy from 1978. I was able to hunt down a new copy around 1995 and read it again then. It is off my allowed to borrow list. I don't think I've read it three times, but I'm old now and it is difficult to recall such things.

Niven was great, recently I read "The Gripping Hand" and had problems getting through it, kind of upset me because I remember liking "The Mote in God's Eye". I have the Hammer floating around somewhere, I have seen it.....
