mostly just shields -
like lamp shade to focus the light where it's needed
and quit blaring it where it's not.

I think that they shields have reflective insides so that less energy is needed.

If I was better funded, I'd be pushing on this one

Ohhh, ok. Those I am familiar with. Back in Fl. I had the city put one on a street light that was glaring into my second story bedroom window.

thanks! i love waking up at 2-3 o'clock in the morning, making some hot chocolate, grabbing a couple of blankets and my scope then heading out in to the country a ways to watch the showers...i lay on the hood of my car, it's nice and toasty from the drive out, and just let my imagination flow...the leonids this year are supposed to be better than last, but my all time favourites are the perseids in august and the geminids in december...i missed the geminids this year due to back to back family deaths, so i am looking really forward to the escape the lyriads are going to bring in april...
