Fluorescent lights

i just bought a pack of those coiled fluorescent lights that are supposed to take less energy. unfortunately, i didn't read the package at the store, which says that you should not use them in lights controlled by dimmers. i am assuming it is because the dimmer won't actually work. my question is, if i dont care about that, will the bulbs work and if so, will they last as long as they would if i put them in another socket?

yes they will still work, and yes it's because they don't dim...i bought these lights just over five years ago and my first one just burnt out the other day...they also cut about $31 from my electric bill and of course, i use less electricity
