Kinda like the highway. They want it, they go to the county and they do a version of more or less emminent domain. You can fight it more easily than the feds, but acres isn't cash so good luck. My family retains access to the majority of the land and run cattle on it. We also retain the royalties. We got a good price. Sucked to me, but I'm just one of the (at that time) grand-kids.

that shit doesnt make sense to me. the land is in your family for years and they can just take it.

i hope that doesnt happen to my grandpa's farm. he is just off an army base and he has oil. the oil company has a well on his land and pays him for it, but i am worried either the company or the army base will try to snatch it now that he is moving to a lodge

My ex-husbands family own land in Louisiana with an oil well on it. Then Texico bought all the land next to theirs, got the right to drill and the Government put a Cap on my ex-husbands family's right to drill. So, Texico is stealing all the oil!
