It's a matter of districting. Unless things have changed (We lease our royalties so we just get a non-varying check) Texico is paying whomever for land access, yet everyone in that district gets equal per acre royalty payments. The cap is to keep oil rigs from stacking next to each other, a visual blight and a dangerous practice and the districting is to keep oil companies from finding a better price next to you and 'stealing all the oil'. Generally, no well goes down all that straight anyways.

Then he's being paid for the damage that having a rig on his land produces. I doubt anyone will steal his land, the profit isn't there it's in the untouchable royalties.

100% Correctamoondo. Many property owners in Arlington, Tx. just found that out. Enjoy the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium and funpark!! At least they can take their kids to the game and show them the 20 yard line where daddy took his first step.......

The running joke in my family is that when we die, we want to be cremated and flushed down the commode so that we can go back to the farm.
