FDA approves use of Cloned Animals

I am sure progress is good, but I want to know what I am eating. I want the choice to know what I am putting in my children's body. I don't know why labeling is not required.

it's really surprising that they dont have to be labelled. we dont know what happens to cloned animals over time; i sure as fuck would not want to be eating them

no kidding...when they first did a story about this a year or so ago, some ranchers said they would label their products "clone-free", hopefully they still will...

I was raised on a farm. We raised cattle. Odd that they have sex and make little cows. These little cows grow up into bigger cows. We can eat these bigger cows, it's been known to happen from time to time. So why do I need a cloned cow to eat again?

For a similar reason to why certain plants are grafted instead of planting their seeds. There may be certain traits in a unique individual that won't carry through to the offspring exactly as they're expressed in the parent [either recessive or incomplete dominance in the gene allele].

Domesticated bananas produce no seeds at all and must be grafted instead in order to be farmed.

Yes Heretic, I know the technical reason. I'm a pot smoker, so cloning impacts my life probably more than it does yours! I was speaking more on a philosphical need. Or actual need, cows ain't thin on the ground, BTW.

You can't have ours! Most of it was appropriated by the near-by town for use as a sewage treatment plant.
