Danny,
I'm unfamiliar with a Kimbara, but any 12 string that's not set up well can be unbearable. Why does it keep breaking strings? I use light guage silk and steel on the Guild and it sounds great. Maybe you should give them a try. Here's my two main guitars, the ones I use when I'm playing with other folks. The J-200 just can't be beat. Zimmy loves the Martin sound as do lots of others, but to me the sound of a jumbo Gibson is about as mellow as you can get. True, it does lack some of the treble punch, but overall its SWEET. The J-50 is my workhorse and although it lacks the volume of the 200 its neck is the best fit I have ever come across.

J-200

J-50

I thought everybody knew by now Mary Magdalene was a disciple, not a whore.
She must be the woman in the pic.

Im not very knowledgable with Acoustic guitars really, being more of an Electric man as I am. But I don't know, maybe I just need to try some better strings, we'll see. I wanna sell it anyway really. Those ones of yours look fantastic too, I would love to have 1 super good acoustic, but man they cost a bomb and a half don't they lol.

Danny,
Do you write your own material? If so, what instrument do you compose on? I have never been able to compose on electric guitar. Actually, I'm not that good on electrics...never developed a comfort level on them. Could be why I only have the one. When I play the Tele I usually have the volume set at 3 or 4 to cover my lack of "feel" for the thing. None of my acoustics have pickups in them, although that's something I am going to be looking into in the near future. Playing live I have to mike the guitar and that produces all sorts of difficulties, the key being I have to keep the guitar at a constant distance from the mike. It looks as if I'm going to have to concede to progress, albeit in a minor fashion, and get one of those super duper transducer pickups.

I do indeed (check link in my signature if you care to). And I use an electric 90% of the time. Sometimes I will write a song on acoustic then transpose it to a full blown electric track. most of the time though I will write some lyrics or maybe lay down some rhythm guitars to a click track and build up all sorts around it. A better example of a song I wrote on acoustic and transposed would be "Into The Sky" which you can find on my purevolume page (notice link in signature again). Most other things tend to happen the other way.

I have en electro-acoustic but don't love it. It's difficult to play and the sound isn't superb. Putting a pickup in one of my better acoustics might be the way to go for me but I dunno yet. I need a bass next lol.
