Name that Space Telescope!

Quote:
February 8, 2008: Would you like to name the next great space telescope? Here's your chance:

NASA is inviting members of the general public from around the world to suggest a new name for the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, otherwise known as GLAST, before it launches in mid-2008. GLAST is designed to probe the most violent events and exotic objects in the cosmos from gamma-ray bursts to black holes and beyond.

NASA or GLAST - Name That Satellite!
Some might have fun with this.....

Should name it after a really sexy black girl. After all, it will be probing black holes.

Nah, just get NASA news letters and thought it would be a fun thing so I posted here.....

.....then I drew a blank, maybe after Dr. Robert W. Bussard but then that would sound like "Buzzard" which fits with my occasional dark humor, but may not resonate with the community

I heard that they discovered Gamma Rays in lightening so I thought of "Thunderstorm". Gamma burst sorta thing. Sounds catchy....but maybe a little to simple.

I just figured all of the scientists would already have something named after them.

It will be interesting to see what name they pick. It is cool of them to open this up to the public, make it a community experience.
