Paper and pencil Vs Keyboards

When was the last time you grabbed a pencil or a pen for writing something (interesting) instead of relying on a computer keyboard?*rant*. There´s nothing like a white sheet paper and a pen.

Agreed. Not to mention the side notes added in on the margin.

Because I've recently changed careers (printing industry) I have to use a pen and write a lot more then I had before.

In construction you use pencils but not for writing that much. There's the occasion hand written bid, but most of my contracts were pre-printed or the wife would do it up nice at work if it wasn't.

Funny thing is I moved to a technical job where I use a computer, but actually write more now.

I have to sign and make notations on work orders, do a little math now and then too.

I went from a truck full of tools and a toolbelt. To a good pen and a box cutter (for opening stock).

In fact if I lose my pen for more then 15 minutes I know it, because that's how often I use it.

I guess it depends on what you're shopping for.

Paper and Pencil is obsolete. I wish all work at schools could be turned in electronically, including in-class work.

Writing gives you hand cramps after writing out long essays, its complicated making corrections way back in your writing and involves alot of hassles, and it doesn’t provide nearly the amount of flexibility that a screen and keyboard does.

My shopping lists are boring. I can remember the kinky stuff easily.

Our writing has atrophied
What will we do when that EMP fries our electronic infrastructure or China based Intel/3Com adds a back door on our electronic toys <whap>.

The questions become:
  • Whats your mailing address ?
  • What to do about writing cramps ?
  • Where is that printing press ?
  • Where is the factory that makes the parts for the press ?

You made me do a double take until I read that twice, lol. At first I thought "dis is using a box cutter instead of an exacto knife (in the print industry)?"
