Now my old computer came from Dell and clearly sucked. But with my new one internet service still lags despite the fact we're using a wireless system from Qwest. The reason is that Qwest runs hundreds of households on a single router meant only for one account instead of expanding their infrastructure to handle the load the way REAL internet providers would. Because there's so few providers in Utah and because the state government is hard core right wing Qwest gets away with shitty service. So it sometimes takes a minute or more for a simple page of these boards to load up. Basically a download speed that- at its peak, is only a few times faster than 56 kb dialup.

Seriously, sorry for your trouble man. Slow computers are the pits. I've had the slowdown problem since I installed virus protection program, even though I'm being charged for something called "powerboost". It ain't workin'.

Those "powerboost" are good for just for downloading. COX offered it and told me it would help reduce lag in gaming...bullshit.

You might want to take a look at the bottom right tool bar (next to the time) and see how many programs load everytime you turn the PC on....these things are running in the background and causing the PC to become slow...they totally screwed up my DOOM3 on line gaming. I finally removed most of them after getting tired of right clicking and closing them when I gamed...

Thanks, I'd forgotten how to do that...most of what I had was on my g/f's PC so I just removed the whole programs, only thing that pops up is the virus protection...hummm, perhaps I can just put a condom on the mouse and remove that one too? ...nyuk nyuk nyuk.

I just went through an ordeal w/ my daughters laptop........ Fucking HP tried to even lie about it to beat her out of the free/recall........

They said there was water damage... But the only damage it did was to the one part that failed......... It was the card for the wireless... Everything else worked & I could go online if I pulled it direct via a cable..... Just the one part...........

Once we told them that the "supervisor" relented & fixed it for nothing......

Thanks Floyd. I have a bunch of those buttons in the lower right hand corner; two java coffee cups, don't know why two, I didn't put them there. Stuff appears. I do like my weather bug, which I need to use right now because we are getting hammered by hail!
