Just so I'm clear, are you saying contact via what we call the internet is NOT possible? Or that aliens must be more active in what they observe, to the point of building special machines for it?

I don't know, we are communicating with each other right now over the internets, and I bet at least one of us is an alien.

Accessing the net implies one of two things; direct wire connection or transmitted connection. both of these are traceable.

All that aisde, there's the issue of figuring out what energy forms we signal with, what frequencies are used within those bandwidths, the base coding system and then, computer language code AND THEN the langue that code is converted to that we're both reading right now. All this while NORAD and a bunch of uniformed computer geeks are trying to figure out E.T. is hacking into the system.

The safe bet is to observe with as little impact as possible [no impact is impossible according to Heisenbuerg] and then report back without the subject knowing you were ever there. This way you get to see H. sapiens act they way they'd normally behave as though they were still alone. This is also why "reality" tv really isn't real. When people know they're under the spotlight they suddenly change up their whole demeanor.

Gosh, I guess they wouldn't have figured out to steal one of our puters and credit card numbers. Especially as they were hanging around observing.

I was referring to the transmitted connections though.

Oh, I forgot to add the Pentagon's computer warfare people as well as S.E.T.I. and the NSA [the lasttermost of which specialized in communications and cryptography of "enemy" codes].

But if you send a signal of any kind that the subject species/civilization can detect [and you have to error on the side that they can pick up anything] they'll not only find it but start to realize that the pattern of that signal is too well ordered to be natural. The Earth shattering social shift quickly follows, and all this before the aliens know if it's safe and constructive to talk to us or not.
