    digital camera question

ive owned a few in my lifetime and they all tend to have the same issue, they take too long to take a picture after u press the button,

u press it and a little light goes "flash, flash" then it takes the pic, i want it to take a pic like a 33mm camera does, i press the button and it instantly takes it

im using a canon powershot A630

I think this was a question at the old Bill Maher boards. My Sony Cybershot delays depending on the setting. Try experimenting with different settings to see if there is a way it can be altered.

I have lost a lot of great shots due to delay but I figured out a setting that stops the delay and even gives a better picture.

I don't think you can eliminate the delay with digital cameras....yet.

though on the bright side you can get your pictures from your 33 mm digitalized.

When you go get your picture developed I BELIEVE that you can have them put on a CD.

You absolutely can get your film camera shots digitzed when you develop the prints or anytime after. Every on-hour place now offers CD options with your prints or instead of prints. If you want your old shots digitized you can have your old negatives scanned.

As for shutter delay with digital cameras, the newer cameras have improved this major inconvenience. In fact I would say it is without a doubt the biggest disadvantage to digital cameras. Great shots are about capturing the moment not capturing the moment 2 seconds after the moment.

I think it only happens when you're shooting in low light conditions.

Try it outside, and see if it still has the delay.

If that's the problem, raise the ISO setting when shooting indoors.

You'll get more noise/grain, but it may help w/your problem.
Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got til it's gone

I shoot a Nikon and it's pretty fast. I can hold the button down and it's as fast as a 35mm with an auto winder.

My diginal SLR will fire off 3 shots a second with zero delay so you bet you can eliminate it. This is by design with standard point and shoot digital cameras because it's calculating everything automatically for you, lighting, fstop, exposure, etc. With digital SLR's it puts that control into your hands and there is no delay at all. You can get a digitial SLR starting at around $500 to $600.
