    Dickson Despommier and Vertical Farming.

Tonight's The Colber[t] Repor[t] Stephen had Dickson Despommier on to discuss vertical farming. And, dare I say it, this adds one more option to reform the agro-industry. The land use would be, obviously, very small [less than five percent depending on height] and wouldn't even require much if any soil [hydroponics] while also offering an environment more easily controlled and pest free without damaging the environment.

It had a lot of potential. As a theory. Once you get into financing for it, then everything changes.

I'll google it, cause I don't know didley about it. I wonder about the expense tho. Like alternative energy, it's expensive because it sux and has no funding/interest yet. Once that changes, these technologies costs would plummet - just like electronics.

The beauty behind this is local growers in major cities, which cuts transportation costs. Imagine getting even fresher produce regardless where you live and it's cheap!
