No excuses are being made for Vick, or anyone. The only reason I ever brought up people being raised in this culture was to demonstrate just how America didn't take dog fighting as seriously as they started taking it when Vick got nabbed.

So, sorry. Save your holier than thout self accountability lectures for one of the few people that looks to you for wisdom. I'm not one of them.
Lecture? ..Wasnt lecturing you there, script. I was trying to decipher your point is all,...And yes, Mike Vick has brought attention to the problem of dogfighting culture. Frankly, I didnt realize just how prevalent dogfighting is/ was until all the spotlight on Mike Vick. Not that I wasnt taking it seriously,....I just had no idea it was so popular.

..And I wasnt defending Ref at all, I wasnt privvy to the previous debate.

No need for the VENOM, there, Script... sheeesh.

You should consider saving your accountability law and order lectures for the few people on this planet that look up to you. I'm not one of them. So why bother?

It's just that in "deciphering" my point, you descended into the typical sanctimonious "Criminals are responsible for themselves" yawn fest. That isn't what this is about. It's like you and eric just saw something that remotely looked like someone taking the Al Sharpton position regarding Vick, and you guys just both shot your wads before even getting your zippers down. Evidently, this is where 7 years of neo-con rule will get you. People liberal on every subject, EXCEPT law and order. Go figure. After so many sound bytes and news cycles of obnoxious black athletes, they've managed to even get people in tie dye calling for stricter sentences.

Wow. Too bad there's no drum sound effect here. The discussion here just gets more informative by the second. doesn't it? In the 20 or so minutes it took you to come up with that brilliant quip, god only knows how many dogs were abused. But, since it's no longer about the dogs and only about Vick being a, what is it again, Refuge, "prison bitch"? By all means, keep the jokes rolling.

Sorry, poochies. The only bitches we discuss here are the human ones in prison. Blowing our wads over obnoxious, wealthy athletes hitting bottom is a bigger priority than discussing animal abuse. You undestand.

From :Living a life that matters

"Live a life that matters
Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to
someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.

The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end.

It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant
Even your gender and skin colour will be irrelevant.
So what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance, but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.
