Forget the jailtime...hit Vick in the pocket.

I don't think anything constructive will come of Vick's jailtime. I said it before, and I still believe that he could be doing more good by getting the word out about the ills of mistreating animals.

Meanwhile, he was ordered to put almost 1 million dollars in escrow to care for almost 50 of the dogs recovered from his property.

Vick placed $928,073 into the escrow fund which will be “used to pay whatever restitution money is ultimately ordered in this case”. Federal prosecutors had ordered Vick to pay for the dogs’ care and as part of his guilty plea, he agreed to pay “restitution for the full amount of the costs associated with the disposition of the all dogs” involved in the case.

Watch the piece on HBO...these dogs are LIVING LARGE now! They got pretty darn fat in the last couple of months.

Yes, many of them are missing ears, or still carry battle scars, but they look great.

Refuge...I was hoping you were watching the piece. These babies are getting spoiled rotten.

I'm looking for a link to show how fat these pups are getting. I think I saw them on Real Sports.

Meanwhile, I think this action by the courts, is much more productive than throwing him in jail.

I've been looking but can't find the right link..I'm looking at the HBO lineup to see if the show will be on again and what time.
I agree he should be hit in the wallet, but he needs counseling too. Saying you know it was a shameful act isn't the same as knowing it in your heart.

Excellent news, I totally hope those dogs are having the time of their life, good for them. Now that is justice!

Vick will see jail time. He broke a federal law, he will be at the mercy of federal sentencing guidelines.

Funny as it sounds...many people have a direct link from their wallet, to their heart. No doubt he feels remorse, but probably not for hurting the dogs.

As long as he knows it isn't going to happen again, that's fine.

He would be better served getting his mug all over the tv, and denouncing such behaviour. Clearly, many still idolize him in the Atlanta area.

There are a lot of kids who could be influenced in a positive way.

Whereas dogfighting is no doubt a cultural thing, a good start would be to use a high profile figure to stop the trend.

Then, as Script suggests, everybody would be aware...and care about stopping this "sport"

Well, seeing as how he's been in jail since Nov., I would say you're right.

He copped a plea. Dogfighting wasn't even addressed in the sentencing. (I don't believe)

It's the lying to investigators, hindering said investigation and subsequently getting caught with marijuana in his urine, that caused his two year sentence.

I believe the property that housed Bad Newz Kennels was sold some time ago.

I'm thinking he's got a few properties. Kind of sad, cause from what I read, he came from a family that stressed hard work. His father wasn't around much, because he worked multiple jobs.

I think his childhood friends were ultimately his downfall. He supposedly set up the kennels for them. Perhaps, so they would stop mooching off of him, and get themselves a viable source of income.

Of course, he bet large sums of money on the fights.

I think he, and his brother Marcus got caught up in the whole celebrity trap. His lil bro had it made, as the starting qb for Virginia Tech.

He too couldn't keep his act together, and ultimately was canned (losing a contract with Miami) from V.Tech. for a rather unsportsmanlike incident on the field.

I don't think Vick will go hungry, but he sure has fallen a tax bracket or two.

I was taught how to treat animals at age 3. Sorry he wasn't, or else it didn't stick.

We've all seen dogs chained to trees, never to run free for a minute. Some people just want noisemakers, to keep prowlers away.

Kids seem to adopt these routines, and find them "normal".

Dogfighting is quite normal in the south. Something that became evident to the masses as a result of Vick.

We can't understand it, but many aren't affected the way we are. Again...if they looked into the eyes of these animals, maybe things would be different.

Vick, or his cohorts, had several Beagles, a Rotty, and a beautiful Mastiff type dog on the premises. I can only wonder what their fate would have been?

You had to see one of those Beagles, upside down on the couch with it's new owner scratching it during the interview.

When the owner stopped the petting for a second, the dog (without moving anything but its head) nudged the woman to continue the pampering.

Hard to believe how quickly things changed for these pups.

And to think, the bust started as a drug investigation.
