LSU vs. Ohio; Tigers, Trees and a National Championship Game Oh my!
Full Article
"The Tigers say they're healthier than they've been in months. The defense, which was one of the best in the country early in the season, wasn't as dominant down the stretch when All-America tackle Glenn Dorsey was hampered by knee and tailbone injuries. Flynn missed two games, including the SEC championship, with ankle and shoulder injuries. A groin injury took Doucet out of five games. With Flynn back at full strength, LSU expects to go back to the two-quarterback system - with Ryan Perrilloux occasionally relieving the starter - that helped the Tigers average 39 points per game. A potent offense against a dominant defense. Two storied programs meeting for the first time in 20 years. For all the BCS championship game has to offer, it still almost sounded as if Miles was reminding everyone at his final news conference Sunday that the winner will be crowned national champion." "I couldn't think of a better way to end the college season than 1 playing 2 for the right to be 1," he said. Redemption or validation will be nice, too." Of course here's the reason why the defense couldn't show up and coincidentally why two certain games went into triple overtime. Of course the Refs didn't call it since they hate LSU for some damn reason. Last edited by Sean; 01-07-2008 at 07:25 AM. |

So who is more deserving to play in it? W. Virg., who was a shoe in and only had to beat Pitt, who was 4 -7 ? Good team, but I don't think so. Kansas, who didn't even play in in their conference championship game? Good team, but I don't think so. Missouri, who lost their conference championship game? Good team, but I don't think so. A case could be made for Oklahoma, but they proved they didn't belong there losing the Fiesta Bowl. A case could be made for USC, who lost two games in a weaker conference than the SEC and doesn't have to play a conference championship game. This BCS championship game will not settle which team is "the best" this year, but which team wins the championship game who got into this game by the same rules all the other teams abide by. So what team is more deserving to be in this game than the two who are there?

Let me guess, Hawaii. Who beat who? Boise. That's it as for real teams and then look what they did in their cereal bowl game. Cry all you wish, I myself whined like you a bit when we had to share the National Championship a few years ago.

only certain university teams get the opportunity, and as this season proved the "experts" who are VERY BIASED, either will not be objective or will be so biased that they influence polls to their advantage, also the majority of times these so called "experts" don't know what is going to happen anyway as I stated from the start: it's not a level playing field, unfair#1 only certain university teams get the opportunity(almost always the larger most well known universities) unfair#2 smaller schools don't get the opportunity to have big time players recruitment opportunities, unfair#3 smaller schools have a budget not even 1/10th of what other big time successful football schools allow to be allocated unfair#4 but besides that there is significant bias and corruption from these so called "experts" quote by aloysious Quote:
it is FAR TO SUBJECTIVE(two teams immediately come to my mind as contenders and are playing VERY WELL right now besides LSU, those are USC, and Georgia) we won't know unless some playoff system is instituted, sounds like a simple enough solution, and it really is a simple solution regardless of what others try to say you see the problem is Bigger Universities don't want it to be fair, they are interested in one thing and one thing only: MONEY bowl games are BIG money and the universities and conferences that right now currently get that money(SEC,Big10, etc) are willing to do almost anything to INSURE that each year they get that money on a yearly basis. it's biased, corrupt, political university politics so who does deserve it? lets be objective its a simple solution, let the teams decide a champion on the field, let them compete to decide a National Champion, look at what happened last year and this year, check out this thread http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?s...yhoo&type=lgns now how can ANYONE say the BCS is not BS? P.S. (do not misunderstand the INTENT of the link I posted, the point is not to promote BOISE STATE it is to demonstrate the system is BS and that the teams need to compete on the field to decide a National Champion, same as they do in March Madness, and pretty much every other college NCAA sports competition) Quote:
