Huh? What's BaBo?

When I saw Clements on 60 Minutes I believed him. He seemed sincere. But I don't follow baseball, so after I heard Deford this morning, I changed my mind and thought that he probably is guilty after all.

From that article (fifth paragraph from the top):

"Now, of course, Clemens has taken a refrain from so many other guilty athletes' lyrics by claiming that he didn't know that he was being given a banned substance..."

BaBo = Barry Bonds

I'm still not sure what your saying.

Part of what was compelling in Clements argument is that he was saying his body never changed, got bigger. But from what his trainer testified, it didn't sound like he used that often or regularly. Also, he had amazing achievements during both years whenthe trainer says he did use and didn't use - so that didn't really make sense to me either and gave Clements some credibilty.

Perhaps its that snidely convincing way Deford speaks that got to me, but this part:

Quote:
But here Clemens is, disputing his trainer, Brian McNamee, who testified — under threat of jail if he was caught lying — that he injected Clemens with steroids and HGH.

The sad and bizarre phone call with McNamee that Clemens taped last Friday and then played in public seemed only — to me — to confirm the pitcher's guilt. [and he said something here about how McNamee was just saying something like, "what do you want me to do man?" And Clements never said, "Tell them the truth."]

All right, I'm sorry. Perhaps I'm just too cynical. Perhaps I have just heard it all too often — even emotionally, to my face — from athletes claiming, with just as much dramatic insistence as Clemens supplied, that they were innocent, only to be convicted later.

FUCK clemens

Methinks your problem with Clemens stems from the incident that irks me about him...95mph fastball at our Goldenboy's head.

It was 2 seasons before Piazza would stand in against the inside fastball again.

That said, I think Clemens is telling the truth...although he opened the door for the "I don't know what he was shooting into my ass...I thought it was b12" defense.

As we know, sometimes steroids are used for rapid healing, not for bulking up. I liked Petite's acknowledgement about using to heal his arm.

It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Clemens would be (in my opinion) a little less aggressive in his public defense, if he was in danger of getting found out.

you liked when pettite cast himself in a reluctant hero role...so he could "just get back to help the team"........

i feel so bad for all those guys who reluctantly juiced themselves becasue they thought its what was demanded of them(the pressure to get paid...errr perform), those guys who thought they were applying healing balms and ointments, those trusting guys who didnt think it strange that the team physicians wouldnt administer their b-12 shots and daily flintstones booster.

Fuck every "explanation", they play baseball...

Gee after flirting with whether or not roger would still be deposing himself before congress (could interfer with that most important of defamation suits) rockets lawyer has agreed that Roger will proudly clear his name and put this aright, facing like a public sports icon would a private deposition- behind closed doors.

is this somekind of inside prank and macnamee is owned by the players union who are trying to undermine mitchell and the united states congress by PUNKING them? or is this not the worst job ever by a legal team to cast their client in a positive light?

Clemens closer to cooperating with Congress
7-time Cy Young winner might testify without having to be subpoenaed

The New York Daily News reported on its Web site Monday night that Clemens' attorney Rusty Hardin met with lawyers for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform earlier in the day, and the staffers were left believing Clemens would agree to talk without having to be subpoenaed.

Clemens would give a private deposition or conduct an "interview" with committee lawyers, the newspaper reported. In both settings, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner would be under oath and would face criminal charges if he gave false statements, the News added.

I think he did it, like almost all pro and major college athletes do, but I don't give a shit. But I know this, he'll probably wind up getting off the hook somehow. It's a business first and foremost, and Clemens has always been a good "ambassador to the game" (fancy word for a model player, i.e., good ole boy appeal...basically, he helps sell pickups.), where as Bonds has always been a pain in the ass. I still think the case against Bonds was all about those two SF Chronicle reporters being snubbed by Bonds for exclusive stories, book deals, what have you. So, "Game of Shadows" was their payback. Don't fuck with the press.
