Was roger just being carefull to not lead Mac during the conversation, or was he being careful not to "defame" him because he (roger) knew it was being recorded.

Roger is being handled very carefully, he has said the accusations are false but he hasnt called anyone a liar, he has implied that someone may have lied but he hasnt come right out and said that someone is a liar.

The have filed a defamation suite against macnamee and mentioned his shady past.

Not that it can be proven ...but is a fraudently filed suit grounds for anything besides a countersuit?


on the recorded phone conversation:

Roger mentions the effect this is having on his family and how he doesnt want them involved, he keeps mentioning these people (sometimes by name) that he doesnt want involved in this "bullshit", (he then plays the recording he secretly recorded at a news conference.) mac espresses concern about the security confidentiality of their phone conversation, clemens assures him its just me buddy....


also spun but never commited to by camp clemens Mac was somehow coerced or underpressure from the fed prosecutors and forced to lie

damn, i just don't know. clements has always been a big boy. with bonds, you could see evidence as he grew strangely later in his career. same with mcguire. i guess if we really knew the truth, probably 3/4 of baseball has used steroids or hgh or whatever.

Now if it were worded "Do you THINK he used drugs" that would make all the difference.

This may seem like a minor point, and that I'm being too picky, but I think this country needs to starts to be more careful with that line between Fact/Opinion/and Bullshit. We've had too many years now where opinion and bullshit are presented as fact.

Don't mean to be even more picky but I'm pretty sure that the poll implied that this was a question of opinion. Short of a request for people to supply discovery evidence I'm not sure how one could have interpreted it as anything else.

As much as I would love to see both stripped of awards and accolades, it isn't going to happen. Cooperstown will put the ball w/ the asterisk on display. Barry may or may not be elected on the first ballot. Either way, when he goes in, and he will go in, he says he won't go to the ceremony. Fine with me.

and yes, I think Charlie Hustle will eventually go too. It just may be posthumously.
