You got that right. I'm surprised Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, the "reverends", haven't flown to Hawai'i to stage a protest asking for Kelly Tilghman's head.
I'll bet Tiger's shaking his head over the stupidity of the reaction to the comment.
I heard it, didn't think anything of it, and you had to really be listening just to catch it.
By the way, the players were playing on The Plantation Course. Lynch Tiger Woods on The Plantation Course.

I agree. After what Imus and that Seinfeld guy said (and George Allen and Trent Lott before them) which were both EXTREMELY racist statements, it's like everyone's trying to get the next Britney twat shot, looking for the next new, hot racist to expose . . . and devote thousands of hours of "news" channel time to it.

It was a dumb thing to say, and she might even have said the same about a white golfer without anyone skipping a beat. But yeah, it was dumb, she apologized . . . next.

It wasn't a mistake. It was a non-issue:

Tiger Woods On Race

http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/2396/tigerrace.html

MEDIA STATEMENT:

The purpose of this statement is to explain my heritage for the benefit of members of the media who may be seeing me play for the first time. It is the final and only comment I will make regarding the issue.

My parents have taught me to always be proud of my ethnic background. Please rest assured that is, and always will be, the case - past, present, and future.

The media has portrayed me as African-America; sometimes, Asian. In fact, I am both.

Yes, I am the product of two great cultures, one African-American and the other Asian.

On my father's side, I am African-American. On my mother's side, I am Thai. Truthfully, I feel very fortunate, and EQUALLY PROUD, to be both African-American and Asian!

The critical and fundamental point is that ethnic background and/or composition should NOT make a difference. It does NOT make a difference to me. The bottom line is that I am an American...and proud of it!

That is who I am and what I am. Now, with your cooperation, I hope I can just be a golfer and a human being.

Signed,

TIGER WOODS

Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman has apologized after saying during Friday's telecast of the PGA Tour's opening event that today's young players should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley."
I guess you can call it what you want but it is definitely a poor choice of words.
