hockey shootout stats

i know there are not many hockey fans here, but does anyone know a site that provides stats with shootout wins not listed in the win column?

I don't know of any such site although I am sure there must be some. You can go to the NHL site (nhl.com) and select the NHL Stats Machine from the pulldown menu under Stats. From there you can select OT wins but they combine both OT and SO wins and they don't let you selelct them seperately. It's kind of weird because they let you selelct OT Ties as a stat broken down a bunch of different ways but of course they all return 0 because there is no such thing.

thanks. i think they are trying to hide the shootouts, because they are not real hockey. i am arguing on the Oilers message board with people who are happy because they Oil supposedly reached .500 today. true, they are 21-21, but they have 11 wins in the SO. that ain't .500. so the guy challenged me, asking how many teams are .500 without the SO. there must be many, but i can't find the damn stats

You can go to www.nhlshootouts.com and download their software and database which will give you every possible stat you could want. I guess this was before tonights games as the Oilers only have 10 wins in their database.

I did it and here are the Shootout totals:

No you were correct about the 11, I just checked for an update of their database and one was available with tonights games in it.

EDIT: Actually it appears the database I originally downloaded was fairly old, some of the numbers have changed quite a bit.

Edmonton and Atlanta are the teams really benefit from the SO. without it, those 2 would fall under .500; in Edmonton's case, way under

thanks Titanium

Hate to break it to you Chris but the Oilers are one game under .500 even with those 11 shootout wins. Overtime and shootouts distort the winning percentage statistic however. The average winning % in the NHL is 0.550, not .500. If you adjust for that the Oilers winning percentage goes from .489 to .444, equivalent to 5 games under .500 rather than just one.
