Boxing Fans?
What would boxing be like if the scoring was changed so rounds were won based on efficiency? Wouldn't need judges... just people to track the punches thrown/punches landed. Knock-downs and knock-outs would be scored the same.
It seems wrong to reward someone based on high work-rate (waste of energy), rather than high efficiency-rate. Last edited by Jonesy; 01-26-2008 at 09:01 PM. |

I don't think fighters should get points for missing.
If your suggesting making it cumulative rather then round by round, that is interesting. If you connect on many punches in the 1st round the points would simply carry over to the next round. You could lose that 2nd round and still be ahead instead of tied. |

Efficiency comes from both time and energy. If in one round, X throws 100, Y throws 50, and both land at 50%, X wins the round cause (s)he lands more punches.
This scoring idea came from watching a fight where a Russian guy threw like 1000 punches total, in 12 rounds. The other guy threw around 400, yet they landed almost exactly the same amount - 200. It seemed like a ridiculous waste of energy, but the Russian guy won decisively. Last edited by Jonesy; 02-10-2008 at 09:09 AM. |

I don't like fights being won or lost by judges.
I think they should fight til one man concedes, and conceeding ought not be a sign of weakness. A lot of fights were won in rounds 13,,14, and 15: the rounds we don't have anymore.

Taylor/ Pavlik 2 - sooo entertaining again, only a few clenches all fight long, just bangin away...great fight. Boy, was the Klitchko fight a disappiontment. He just stuck his big ass arm out there the whole time, jab jab jab...duck,..jab jab . ...harldy any bombs even thrown, let alone being landed. (LAME fight)
