Hopefully it's not the last Subway Series at Shea. I would take my chances against them this year only because the Yankees have not won a World Series with a Republican President in office since 1958. The way they lost the 1960, 2001, and 2003 World Series have me convinced it is a legitimate hex. Those are series that they had no business losing. The 1976 Reds and 1981 Dodgers were simply better. Besides, we need to avenge 2000!

I still say Todd Zeile hit a home run in Game 1! It hit the top of the wall where it begins to separate in that area and the back part should be a home run! They've changed it since then. Timo Perez is vindicated!

I got to see one of the games at Shea that year. I boiled it down to comparing two positions on both teams...
Right field... Mets...Perez...a rookie with speed, potential, and no brains...No, he isn't vindicated for not running on Zeil's triple. He's the fastest kid on the damn team. Do what you're paid to do. Yanks...O'Neil...nuff said. Shortstop... Yanks...Jeter...check his numbers in the Series Mets...Mike Bordick...how desperate were we, when we couldn't force Mora to play the position worth a damn. Each game was close, and if you check the offensive stats from these two positions, you'll see what I'm talking about. I still say Perez' rookie mistake on Zeil's shot, set the tone for the entire series.
