Same thing, except it did catch the main artery. He's a goalie and there was a pile up in the crease. Just a freak thing.

Word was at the time that if he hadn't been goaltending on the end where the Zamboni (ice resurfacing machine) comes out, he'd be dead. Because that's where they park the ambulance so it can leave the building, and the paramedics are right there too. "They say", if he had been at the other end of the ice he'd be dead right now.

The video is rather normal, until you see Malrachuck holding his throat, by the time the camera focuses on him, there's a 2 foot circle of red on the ice directly below him.

i think i'll still pass on the video...one thing is for sure, both of these men are incredibly lucky to be alive...did malrachuck's accident happen before they started wearing those intense goalie masks? seems like it would be hard to get a skate under one of those now...

If I remember correctly it was during the era of the "Jason" like masks. The ones that formfitted over the face, so there was a chance for a skate to get up under the chin.

Many goal tenders now wear masks that extend well below the chin, or actually have a guard that hangs off the chin to protect them from getting hit in the throat with a puck.

I'd take the Red Wings' position in the standings in a second, lol. It's just a little losing streak. They'll be fine. It's better for them to have this prolonged losing streak now than in April.
