omg!!! how horrible! i think that will have to go down in hockey history as one of the most freakish accidents ever...i'm glad they were able to do something for him, but dayum!!! he's incredibly lucky to still be alive

my friends and I have always talked about this as a nightmare "what-if" hockey injury , given just how sharp those blades are.... but the neck!? WOW.

i've thought about that too, never before in my wildest dreams could i have imagined being upturned so that the skate does that though...

and then there's this:

Canada's Sportsnet cable-TV network reported on its Web site that the skate blade just missed cutting the jugular vein.

someone was looking out for him because it could have been much, much worse

i have jokinen on my fantasy hockey team, i can only imagine how horrible he feels about this too...

Some of you might be too young to remember the Clint Marlarchuk incident. Do a Utube search but be warned it's as graphic as probably the one out there of Zednick. Which I haven't cared to look for yet.

Get rid of the instigator rule and you'll see headshots drop drastically.
